After receiving stacks of Valentine's Day cards to deliver to senior citizens living in long-term care facilities in Illinois' 58th Senate District, state Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Muphysboro) thanked those who participated in the drive.
Bryant posed for a picture holding a few of the many cards her office received. She also shared a few other photos on Twitter showing just how many cards were sent in as part of the drive.
"Thank you to everyone who donated Valentine's Cards to my Valentines for Seniors Drive," Bryant wrote in a tweet.
Bryant has been collecting these cards since early January to have them delivered to seniors living in nursing homes in time for Valentine's Day on Feb. 14, Southern Illinois News reported.
"We cannot wait to deliver these to the seniors of the 58th Senate District," Bryant said in her Feb. 7 tweet.
Earlier this month, Bryant announced an upcoming chicken dinner campaign fundraiser scheduled for Feb. 27 at the Du Quoin American Legion Hall to support her own reelection, according to South West Illinois News. She's running to retain her seat in the newly drawn 58th District.
“My record as state senator reflects my pro-growth, pro-jobs, limited government philosophy. I’ve stood strong against what I think are executive overreaches and I’ve taken JB Pritzker to task for his failed handling of the COVID-19 pandemic,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
Bryant was elected to the state Senate in 2020 and was first elected to the State House of Representatives six years prior to her senate victory.
South West Illinois News reported Bryant has been vocal about the candidates she's supporting come election time.
Bryant posted on social media that she was "proud to support" Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard, State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton), and Appellate Court Justice Barry Vaughn.
