Report: Carterville School District spent $9,785 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Carterville Community Unit School District 5 was up 26.2 percent from five years ago, according to the Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Williamson County school district spent $7,752 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,785 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 2,255 to 2,151 students over the same period.

Carterville's spending in 2019-20 was 32.5 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
