Report: Giant City School District spent $9,469 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Giant City Community Consolidated School District 130 was up 3.7 percent from five years ago, according to the Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Jackson County school district spent $9,127 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,469 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 246 to 238 students over the same period.

Giant City's spending in 2019-20 was 34.7 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
