The Illinois Department of Aging is accepting nominations for the 2021 Senior Illinoisians Hall of Fame to highlight and recognize adults 65 years of age or older who have made meaningful contributions to the state.
The Department of Aging's website detailed that candidates must be an Illinois resident or have been former residents for most of their lives. Eligibility for nomination is based on past and present accomplishments, while inductees are chosen through a statewide nomination and judging process.
The Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame was established in 1994 by the General Assembly to recognize the contributions of senior citizens in the state and focus on individuals within community service, education, and the workforce.
The deadline is Tuesday, June 1, 2021, and nominations can be filled out by using online forms on the website, calling the senior helpline at 1-800-252-8966, or emailing aging.ilsenior@illinois.gov.
