Analysis: Herrin pays $8.26 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Herrin Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 89.2 percent of the $1,348,775 the Herrin Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $8.26 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Herrin contributed $1,203,238 to the fund, which saw a $203,423 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $145,538, or 10.8 percent, in 2018.
