Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Jackson County Health Department was not notified of any additional cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County over the past 24 hours. To date, there have been 327 confirmed cases in Jackson County, including 19 related deaths. 292 individuals have been released from isolation, in accordance with CDC
guidelines. Sixteen active cases are currently being managed.
If you have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell, nausea or diarrhea, call your health care provider for further guidance. Three providers are conducting COVID-19 testing of eligible individuals in Jackson County: Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) – Call 1-844-988-7800; Shawnee Health Service – Call 618-519-9200; and SIU Center for Family Medicine – Call 618-536-6621.
Also, the State of Illinois has established a temporary testing site at the SIU-C Recreation Center, north side parking lot. The site is open daily through Sunday, July 5, from 9am-5pm; except the site will be closed on Sunday, June 28 and Saturday, July 4. Testing is open to all Illinois residents; participants do not need to be symptomatic or have a known exposure. There is no cost to be tested; participants should bring their insurance card if they have one, but no one will be turned away for lack of insurance.
Participants must provide phone number and current address to ensure results can be received. The site should be entered on S. Marion St., accessed via E. Mill St. Follow signage.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has released a new tool which looks at county level COVID-19 risks. Counties which are displayed on a map in blue are ones experiencing overall stability on various COVID-19 metrics. Counties displayed as orange have metrics indicating the potential for increased risk.
These metrics are intended to be used for local level awareness of each county’s progress during Phase 4 and to help local leaders, businesses, local health departments, and the public make informed decisions and promote healthy behaviors. The tool will be updated weekly. A change in a county’s metrics do not indicate that a county is moving ahead or back any phase in the Restore Illinois plan.
