Village of Desoto Board of Trustees met Dec. 16.

President John Evans called the second regular meeting of the De Soto Village Board of
Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Absent: Tony Rushing Eric Schuler
Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting and to approve them. Motion carried.
Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to approve the November revenue report. Motion carried.
Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to pay the list of bills as presented. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.
The school currently has a Phillips Heart Start AED Defibrillator at the school. They will purchase another one for the park. The Village will purchase the same kind for the park.
Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to purchase a Phillips Heart Start AED Defibrillator and one set of youth pads from EBay for up to $1,000.00. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to pass Ordinance No. 2019-5 Prohibiting Cannabis Business Establishments in the Village of De Soto. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.
Trustee Gleason reported that the vacant police officer position has been advertised.
The surveillance camera on the parking lot on the west side of the village hall has been installed.
Trustee Paulette Johnson reported that Milk and Cookies with Santa went well. She thanked everyone for their help and cookie donations. Mrs. Johnson especially appreciated the Beta Club students who served refreshments and monitored the coloring table.
Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to approve the 2020 holiday schedule. Motion carried.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to pass Resolution No. 2019-8 appropriating $20,000.00 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the purpose of maintaining streets and highways for the period January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.
The next village board meeting will be held Tuesday, January 21 at 7 PM at the village hall due to the Martin Luther King holiday.
