Southern Illinois University Museum recently issued the following announcement.
SIU Board of Trustees Chair J. Phil Gilbert has announced the launch of a search for a new chancellor for the Carbondale campus.
The timing of the chancellor search aligns with the current search for a system president. Gilbert, speaking at the SIU Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, noted that a new president should be in place in time to interview candidates and recommend the appointment of a new chancellor. He said the goal is to appoint a Carbondale chancellor in about six months.
The system office will move forward immediately to establish an advisory search committee according to guidelines established by the board, Dorsey added. Marc Morris, interim director of the School of Accountancy, has agreed to chair the committee. Membership will reflect the university’s many constituencies.
Current Interim Chancellor John M. Dunn said he welcomes the search.
“This is a great campus that deserves a permanent chancellor to guide it into the future,” he said. “We’ll continue to move forward until the next chancellor is appointed. I continue to appreciate the commitment of our faculty and staff. We have momentum thanks to their commitment and hard work.”
