Williamson County Board of Commissioners met June 13. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Williamson County Board of Commissioners met Thursday June 13, 2019 at 1:39 p.m. at the Williamson County Administrative Building Boardroom, Marion, Illinois, in a regular meeting of the Williamson County Board of Commissioners with the following members present:

                                                  Ron Ellis, Chairman

                                          Brent Gentry, Commissioner

                                             Jim Marlo, Commissioner

Attest: Amanda Barnes, County Clerk and Recorder

Motion made by Brent Gentry and seconded by Jim Marlo, approving the hire of Jerry Ross for the IT position. He will be starting with a salary of $21,840 with a potential raise in 90 days. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.

Commissioners looked over the Crawford survey on land that they are wanting to sell by the Sheriff’s shooting range. No action taken.

Motion made by Ron Ellis and seconded by Jim Marlo, approving to terminate Frontier internet contract in the amount of $8,942.47. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Abstain; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present two voting Yea; motion carried.

Commissioner Ellis brought up the 911 calls were not being recorded when the person calls in. No action taken.

Commissioner Gentry stated he received a phone call from a Whiteash resident over concerns of the security lights being shut off. He said that he explained to the resident the lack of funds to take care of Whiteash and that being why the board thought it was necessary for the cut. No action taken.

Motion made by Brent Gentry and seconded by Jim Marlo, approving the Special Event Liquor License for Marion Elks on July 6, 2019. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.

Motion made by Brent Gentry and seconded by Jim Marlo, approving the fireworks permit on July 6, 2019, or July 7, 2019 in case of rain for Marion Elks. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.

Motion made by Brent Gentry and seconded by Jim Marlo to adjourn meeting. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.
