Former state school employee Dilley paid in $5K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $100K in retirement

Former state school employee Susan Dilley, who retired in July 2016, saved $4,880 toward a pension over 1 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Dilley would collect as much as $99,565, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Carbondale Reporter.

The projection assumes Dilley received $2,092 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Dilley will have already received $6,467 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
