Former state university employee Baltzell paid in $4K to pension fund, could collect $399K in retirement

Former state university employee Diana Baltzell, who retired in August 2018, saved $4,297 toward a pension over 5 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Baltzell would collect as much as $399,290, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Carbondale Reporter.

The projection assumes Baltzell received $8,392 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 1 years of retirement, Baltzell will have already received $8,392 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
