Former state university employee Ghusayni paid in $10K to pension fund, could collect $445K in retirement

Former state university employee Badih Ghusayni, who retired in November 2016, saved $10,138 toward a pension over 5 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Ghusayni would collect as much as $445,237, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Carbondale Reporter.

The projection assumes Ghusayni received $9,358 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Ghusayni will have already received $18,997 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
