Report: Murphysboro spent $10,533 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 is down 0.8 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Jackson County school district spent $10,617 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,533 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 2010 to 2047.

Murphysboro's spending in 2017-18 was 21 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
