Report: Marion spent $8,176 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Marion Community Unit School District 2 is up 1.6 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Williamson County school district spent $8,047 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,176 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 3995 to 4031.

Marion's spending in 2017-18 was 38.7 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
