Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 Board of Education met July 2.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Board Members present: Mr. Beavers, Mrs. Doerr, Mr. Green, Mrs. Jaynes, Mrs. Miller, Mr. Runge.
Board Members absent: Dr. Corley
Administrators Present: Mr. Grode, Mr. Ellermeyer, Mrs. Ehlers
Administrators Absent: None
Others present: Steve Carrington, Stacie Tefft, Julie Sikorski, Erin Allison.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Ellermeyer.
Mr. Beavers made the motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to approve the agenda as presented.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Corley
The president declared the motion carried.
There were no comments made under public/employee concerns.
Mr. Beavers made the motion and Mrs. Doerr gave the second to move into closed session pursuant to Section 2 of the Open Meetings Act, 5 Illinois Compiled Statutes 120/2(c), to review:
1. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the district including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity.
A roll call vote was recorded as follows:
Mr. Beavers – Aye Mr. Green – Aye Mr. Runge – Aye
Mrs. Doerr – Aye Mrs. Jaynes – Aye
Dr. Corley – Absent Mrs. Miller – Aye
The president declared the motion carried.
The board moved to closed session at 5:01 p.m. The board returned to open session at 6:01 p.m.
Communications were read. Mr. Beavers made a motion and Mr. Green gave the second to accept the resignation as certified teacher, varsity scholar bowl sponsor, and 2019 class sponsor from Tom Lunz effective immediately.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Corley
The president declared the motion carried.
Mrs. Jaynes made the motion and Mrs. Doerr gave the second to approve the intent to retire under the IMRF Early Retirement Incentive with June 30, 2019 being the last day of employment and approved a 6% retirement increase the last year of employment in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and Teamsters Local 347, Article XV – Section 4 for Darryl Rogers.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Corley
The president declared the motion carried.
Mr. Beavers made the motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to employ Erin
Allison as assistant principal at Murphysboro High School and Dawson Burke as an additional summer student worker.

The president declared the motion carried.
Mrs. Miller made the motion and Mr. Green gave the second to post for positions: HS Social Studies to replace Lunz, HS Special Education to replace Allison, para aides, and six part-time (3 hours/day) monitors for lunch room supervision.
