Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 Board of Education met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

A Budget Amendment Hearing was called to order by the President of the Board of

Education, Rick Runge, at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in the Board Room at McElvain School, 593 Ava Road, Murphysboro, Illinois.

Board Members present: Mr. Beavers, Mrs. Doerr, Mrs. Jaynes, Mrs. Miller, Mr. Runge.

Board Members absent: Dr. Corley, Mr. Green (It was noted that Dr. Corley had a family emergency and Mr. Green was on vacation)

Administrators Present: Mr. Grode, Mrs. Bush, Mr. Ellermeyer, Mr. Keener, Mrs. Ehlers.

Others present: Steve Carrington, Len Novara, Georgia Marshall, Stacie Tefft, Julie Sikorski, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Layne, Michele Carter, Dawn Taylor, Heather Parr, Bill Quigley, Rob Williams, Marian Laughland.

Mr. Ellermeyer led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Beavers made the motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to approve the agenda as presented.

A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None; Absent – Corley, Green

The president declared the motion carried.

Mrs. Bush presented a handout. In revenue she has included an increase due to the

Evidence Based Funding being received into the Education Fund. The major difference in expenditures is the inclusion of the IMRF early retirement incentive payoff and increase in the Science curriculum adoption. An increase in the O & M was due to a lightning insurance claim.

The e-rate revenue was adjusted from the original estimate. The county facilities sales tax monies was kept in the Capital Project Fund in order to pay for abatement. The budget will reflect being in the black at the end of the year. These are highlights of amendments.

There were no concerns brought forward under audience recognition regarding the amended budget.

Mr. Beavers made the motion and Mrs. Jaynes gave the second to adjourn the meeting at 6:27 p.m.

The president declared the motion carried.
