Marion City Council met June 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Mayor Rinella. Mayor Rinella called the meeting to order. The roll call response was as follows:

Physically Present: Commissioner Hightower, Commissioner Patton, Commissioner Webb and Commissioner Goss and Mayor Rinella.

Absent: None.

Mayor Rinella stated this is a Special Meeting having given notice of the Special Meeting fortyeight hours prior to the meeting as stated in 05/ILCS 120/2.02 with the reason for the Special Called Meeting being as follows:

1. Council to approve bids for the purchase of three (3) SUV's for the Police Department. Two are a budgeted item and the 3rd is a replacement for a squad car that was totaled.

2. Council to approve the purchase of a used vehicle for the 011/EMA Coordinator.

Mayor Rinella stated Council approved the bid for the purchase of the three SUV's from Absher Arnold at the May 29, 2018 Regular Meeting. Since that time, Police Chief Tondini has been informed the 2018 SUV's that were covered by Absher-Arnolds bid are no longer available. However, Absher Arnold can provide 2019 SUV's but the cost is within $100.00 of the Marion but the vehicles will not be available till September. Marion Ford's bid, submitted at the May 29, 2018 for the three 2018 Ford Explorer SUV's will be available by August.

Commissioner Webb made a motion to rescind the motion to approve purchasing the three SUV's that was approved at the May 29, 2018 Regular meeting. Commissioner Goss seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Webb And Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yea.

Commissioner Webb made a motion to approve the purchase of the three (3) SUV's (2018 Ford Explorers) for the Police Department from Watermark Ford Hyundai at the bid of $90,905.82 Commissioner Goss seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Webb And Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yea.

Commissioner Goss made a motion to approve the purchase of a 2014 Ford Edge at a cost of $16,273.74 from Absher Arnold for the 911/EMA Coordinator. Commissioner Webb seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Webb. Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yea.

Street Superintendent Doug Phillips stated that after reviewing the specs for the purchase of the Street Department utility truck, he recommends the 2019 Ford truck from Watermark Ford Hyundai.

Commissioner Goss made a motion to adjourn the Special Meeting. Commissioner Webb seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Webb. Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yea.
