Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
The Varsity Center will present a Father’s Day screening of the hit comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire” on Sunday, June 17 at 2 p.m.
After out-of-work actor Daniel Hilliard (Robin Williams) loses custody of his three children to his ex-wife Miranda (Sally Field), he dresses up in drag to become the matronly Mrs. Doubtfire, the family's new nanny, in order to see his kids every day. (rottentomatoes.com)

“Mrs. Doubtfire” is directed by Chris Columbus and written by Randi Mayem Singer, Leslie Dixon. Its runtime is 126 minutes. “Mrs. Doubtfire” is distributed by 20th Century Fox.
The film was released in the United States on Nov. 24, 1993. It won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Robin Williams was awarded the Gold Globe for Best Actor.
“Mrs. Doubtfire” is rated PG13 for some sexual references.
The Varsity will show “Mrs. Doubtfire” at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17. Tickets are $5 and are available in advance at www.thevarsitycenter.eventbrite.com. They also will be available at the venue on the night of the show when doors open at 1:30 p.m. The Varsity Bar features beer, wine, select cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and popcorn.
