Report: Crab Orchard spent $7,793 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Crab Orchard Community Unit School District 3 is down 10 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Williamson County school district spent $8,634 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $7,793 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 479 to 513.

Crab Orchard's spending in 2016-17 was 40 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
