Analysis: Carbondale pays $4.71 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Carbondale Township Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 82.5 percent of the $59,401 the Carbondale Township Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.71 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Carbondale contributed $49,000 to the fund, which saw a $45,297 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $10,401, or 17.5 percent, in 2016.
