Jackson County Real Property Committee met October 11.

Approval of Minutes
I. 17-2837 September 13, 2017 Minutes
A motion was made by D. Bost, seconded by S. Bost, to approve the September 13, 2017 minutes as presented. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Communication
II. 17-2838 Ameren Notice of Electronic Tree Trimming
This item is for informational purposes.
Highway Department
A. SIMPO-Southern Illinois Metropolitan Planning Organization
B. Jackson County Bike Paths/Trails
C. Payment of Highway Monthly Claims
A. Peterson informed the committee that SIMPO met the day before and due to the wrecks on 57 there will be an IDOT Safety Study. Also they decided on some projects for 2022.
B. None at this time.
C. S. Bost moved and D. Bost seconded to pay the Highway monthly claims in the amount of $791,691.60; motion carried.
III. 17-2839 Fuel Pump Video Surveillance
Guthman reported that he has had reports that their are unauthorized users using the fuel pumps at the Highway Department; he has no personal knowledge of that. He priced video cameras to put up to monitor the pumps. The committee discussed what they wanted to do and it was the consensus of the committee to not proceed at this time.
IV. 17-2840 Illinois Department of Transportation Revenue Cuts to Local Agencies
Guthman presented the memo as information for the committee.

C. Benn introduced herself to the committee and gave a brief update on what JGA is doing now and the goals for the future.

E. Peterson reported that she heard from Mr. Mark Holt regarding the levee project. He reported that things are moving along over by Tater Bend on the Degognia end heading toward Cora City. They have encountered a few problems but those have been addressed. They are closing one of the three pipes at Jones Pond and that will help when they go back to the Big Muddy to address the lock by the Oakwood bottoms that was skipped. The pipe that was saved from Jones ridge should fit on BMR so that should save some additional costs at the Oakwood repair. They hope to have a final ruling on the tax increase in November.
V. 17-2841 Murphysboro Tourism Presentation
Jones, the Chair of the Murphysboro Tourism informed the committee of the structure of the board and how the funding from the county is used to promote tourism.
County Buildings & Grounds
VI. 17-2842 Apple Tree Donation
The committee coordinator informed the committee that a citizen would like to donate an apple tree to the courthouse in honor of his wife. Jones informed the committee that he has an extra apple tree that is a cutting from the last original Johnny Appleseed tree that if the citizen would like to pay the Illinois State Historic Society for could be the tree that is donated.
A motion was made by Hunter, seconded by Endres, to approve accepting the donation of an apple tree for the courthouse lawn. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
VII. 17-2843 Building Purchase for Probation
Endres and Rendleman will look at the suggested building to purchase next week.
VIII. 17-2844 Historic Lincoln Program
Peterson spoke with the Carbondale Community High School History Club and they have offered to do a fundraiser to raise the money to purchase the Historic Lincoln picture for the
Courthouse.
