The calls in Marion included 148 fires - 56 structure fires, 16 vehicle fires and 71 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $434,876 in fire loss - or about $2,938 per fire.
The department also received 187 false calls, including two malicious calls and 185 other false calls.
One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
The Marion Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 25 active employees and 14 retired or inactive employees, was $463,187 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,130 for every fire in 2016.
