Carterville baseball finishes sectionals in second

Baseball(1000)

The Carterville Lions had sectionals in their sites all season, and they got their chance after coming from behind to win the semifinals.

The Lions started the game slow, slumping behind 4-0 to the Harrisburg Bulldogs after the first two innings. But Carterville wasn't about to let their limping out of the gate hurt their chances at the finals.

Calm and collected, they roared back to a 7-5 victory at Eovaldi Field, improving their record to 18-6, and earning a spot in the finals.

Blake Jackson was a standout star for the Lions, totalling four RBIs for the night.

The Lions fell to the Nashville Hornets 11-2 in the final.
