Carbondale begins project to install security cameras

As part of a multi-phase project to make the community safer, the city of Carbondale is installing security cameras in different areas downtown.

Cameras will be places at different locations between College and Cherry streets as part of the first phase of the project. Future phases will encompass Illinois Avenue.

“The city of Carbondale continues its focus on revitalizing downtown, and enhancing the experience for our residents and visitors is a major part of that effort,” Carbondale City Manager Gary Williams said. “Improving safety and ensuring that downtown visitors feel safe is fundamental to our revitalization strategy.”
