Carbondale Library Board updated on renovation projects

At a meeting this week, the Carbondale Public Library Board of Trustees was updated on the Brush Building wall project and other renovations.

Roll call.

Introductions, audience and visitors. Visitors are asked to introduce themselves at this time and present any issues they wish to discuss. Visitors wishing to address specific agenda items will be granted two to five minutes at the discretion of the President, not to exceed a total of twenty minutes. The Library Board may cut short any comments that are irrelevant, repetitious, or disruptive. (Id. at 1425-26).

1. Approval of the August 10, 2016 minutes.

Financial report.

1. Approval of bills payable up to and including bills due September 16, 2016 to October 15, 2016.

2. Acceptance of the financial report for August 2016.

3. Discuss FY18 levy and budget priorities.

Librarian’s report.

1. Building and grounds maintenance and construction.

a. Progress on south wall of the Brush building.

b. Masonry repair on roof.

2. Insurance.

3. Social work internship program.

4. Discussion about the library’s role in finding solutions to violence in the community.

5. Per Capita requirement: review Chapter 6, “Access,” of Serving Our Public 3.0: Standards for Illinois Public Libraries, 2014.
