Representatives Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona), Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis), and State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) hosted free Senior Health Fairs in Marion and Carbondale this week. The events, which took place at the HUB Recreation Center in Marion on Tuesday and the Civic Center in Carbondale on Wednesday, attracted about 400 local seniors.

The fairs ran from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and featured healthcare providers, senior service vendors, health screenings, informational booths, and prizes. Free refreshments were also provided. Various organizations and state agencies participated to offer information relevant to area seniors.

Representative Jacobs commented on the event’s impact: “I am always excited to meet new people and see many friends at these events who learn about the wide variety of services available to them in the region,” he said. “From healthcare and assisted living facilities to veteran’s groups and local libraries with senior programs, these senior fairs are great one-stop-shop events to help seniors live healthy and enjoyable lives.”

Jacobs was elected as a Republican to represent Illinois’ 118th House District in 2023, succeeding Patrick Windhorst.
