Murphysboro HS shares guidelines for Week 1 football game attendance

Murphysboro High School, part of Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County, provided updates on its social media regarding the Week 1 football game and related school policies.

On August 29, 2025, Murphysboro High School shared a message on X about the upcoming football event: "Week 1 football game information:

Game will be streamed on NFHS and the HUDL fan app.

Any students 8th grade and below MUST be accompanied by an adult to gain entry into tonight’s game and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

No confetti allowed on school property!" The post emphasized streaming options for those unable to attend in person and outlined safety measures for younger students attending the event.

The school's official account also posted links earlier that day, including at 01:58 UTC and 16:33 UTC, directing followers to additional content or resources related to school activities.

Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 encompasses several schools in Jackson County, including Carruthers Elementary School, General John A. Logan Attendance Centre, McElvain School, Murphysboro High School, and Murphysboro Middle School. The district is staffed by 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770; approximately three-quarters are women. According to state education data, no teachers have more than ten absences per year (source). Demographically, the district is comprised of approximately 69 percent White students, nearly 16 percent Black students, just over seven percent Hispanic students, and a small percentage of Asian students (source). In terms of finances, the district spent $19,142 per student in 2020 for a total expenditure of $37.3 million (source).
