Murphysboro High School, part of the Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County, recently shared updates on its official Twitter account regarding club membership and athletic schedules.

On August 23, 2025, Murphysboro HS posted: "Welcome to the Red Devils Sponsor Signs Club! Our Newest members (part 5) include: https://t.co/CzPPvSxToV".

The following day, on August 24, 2025, another update was shared: "MHS Athletic Schedule 8/25/25 - 8/30/25 https://t.co/t7t6tOtGSo".

A third post appeared on August 25, 2025: "https://t.co/xWnddIz1LW".

Murphysboro High School is one of several schools represented by the Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186, which also includes Carruthers Elementary School, General John A. Logan Attendance Centre, McElvain School, and Murphysboro Middle School. The district serves a diverse student body that is approximately 69 percent White, nearly 16 percent Black, just over seven percent Hispanic, and a small percentage Asian (source).

According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs a total of 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770 before pension contributions; about three-quarters are women and one-quarter are men. Notably, there are no teachers in the district with more than ten absences per school year (source). In terms of finances, the district spent $19,142 per student in fiscal year 2020 for a total expenditure exceeding $37 million (source).
