Murphysboro HS announces fall sports rosters and highlights local sponsorships

Murphysboro High School has shared updates regarding its fall sports programs and community partnerships through a series of social media posts dated August 23, 2025.

In the first post, Murphysboro HS announced the availability of team rosters for the upcoming school year: "2025-26 Murphysboro HS Red Devils Fall Sports Rosters can be found on each sport's team page, or collectively at this link: https://t.co/uTmMl3VTM5

Later that day, the school expressed appreciation for local business support in athletics. In a tweet thanking a sponsor, they wrote: "Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!? The Murphysboro Football Team would like to send a Warm THANK YOU to Burke Electric for the pregame meal this Friday prior to their Week 0 scrimmage game. Our players, coaches and staff greatly appreciate Burke Electric continuous support! https://t.co/rVWBczHKJU" (August 23, 2025).

A third post welcomed new sponsors to a school initiative: "Welcome to the Red Devils Sponsor Signs Club! Our Newest members (part 1) include: https://t.co/G1QIBlvPik" (August 23, 2025).

Murphysboro High School is part of Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County. The district also includes Carruthers Elementary School, General John A. Logan Attendance Centre, McElvain School, and Murphysboro Middle School. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, District 186 employs 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770 and maintains low teacher absenteeism rates. The student population is predominantly White at 69 percent, with Black students making up nearly 16 percent and Hispanic students about seven percent. In fiscal year 2020, per-student spending was $19,142 for a total expenditure of over $37 million ([Illinois Report Card](https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/)).
