PUBLIC
James Brand wants to know what can be done about next-door neighbor not taking care of their property. The don't want to mow, they did mow but have not used a weed eater in over a year. There is a storage unit in their driveway for over a year. Also, they have a brush pile in their front yard.
MINUTES OF JUNE 23,2025
Motion made by Alderman Shoemake, seconded by Alderman York to approve the minutes of June 23, 2025 Council Meeting. Alderman Ahlgren, York, Crompton, Kinley, Miller, Crouse, Sizemore and Shoemake voted "Yea". None voted "Nay".
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer Cari Goodwin stated he reviewed bank statements, water/sewer adjustments and admin tow fees and all correct.
BUDGET OFFICE REPORT
Carrie Cravens, Budget Director had nothing to report.
CODES
Bret Childers, Codes Administrator stated S. 7th St house should be tore down this week, 2 S. 17th St. houses will be schedule soon along with a house on S. 10th,
PUBLIC WORKS
Steve Miller, Chairman of the Public Works Committee stated that all of Park Avenue overlay is down and we are awaiting striping to be finished.
Tom Somers, Public Works Director stated we have W. Madison St. closure from Park Avenue to N. 16th Street. Dollar General work is completed.
PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT
Randy Crompton, Chairman of the Public Improvement Committee stated they met earlier, have item later in agenda.
PUBLIC SAFETY
David Dorris, Police Chief was absent from the meeting. Deputy Chief Sal Tomas stated they had higher overtime due to hire back for IDOT grant and will receive monies back.
Shawn Priddy, Fire Chief stated drone has deployed a couple times in the last month and have had a diver deployed at Kincaid lake.
Jason Englebright, AC 1 had nothing to report.
David Shoemake, Chairman of the Public Safety Committee stated they met earlier, item later in meeting.
FINANCE
Motion was made by Alderman York, seconded by Alderman Shoemake to authorize bills to be paid before the Council. Alderman York, Crompton, Kinley, Miller, Crouse, Sizemore, Shoemake and Ahlgren voted "Yea". None voted "Nay".
INSURANCE
Scott Kinley, Chairman of the Insurance Committee had nothing to report.
HERRIN LIBRARY LIAISON
Brett Crouse, Liaison for the Herrin Library stated 7/25 is Lawyer in the Library for free consultations. Thanked the Fire Department for program at the library for the children.
HERRIN CIVIC CENTER LIAISON
Scott Kinley, Liaison for the Herrin Civic Center stated Queen of Hearts Tuesday is $4,981.
GRANT UPDATE
Valerie Clodi stated all grants mentioned have been submitted.
NEW BUSINESS:
AGREEMENT AMEREN COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION ELECTRIFICATION
Motion made by Alderman Crompton, seconded by Alderman Sizemore to enter into Ameren Community Transportation Electrification Agreement. Alderman Crompton, Kinley, Miller, Crouse, Sizemore, Shoemake, Ahlgren and York voted "Yea". None voted "Nay".
AUTHORIZE POLICE DEPT VEHICLE PURCHASE
Motion made by Alderman Shoemake, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve police department vehicle purchase. Alderman Kinley, Miller, Crouse, Sizemore, Shoemake, Ahlgren, York and Crompton voted "Yea". None voted "Nay".
ORDINANCE 11- 2025 ADD TERRITORY TO EPZ
Motion made by Alderman Miller, seconded by Alderman Kinley to pass Ordinance 11-2025 Add Territory to the Williamson County Enterprise Zone. Alderman Miller, Crouse, Sizemore, Shoemake, Ahlgren, York, Crompton and Kinley voted "Yea". None voted "Nay".
AGREEMENT EPZ AMENDMENT NO. 6
Motion made by Alderman Kinley, seconded by Alderman York to approve Enterprise Zone Amendment No. 6. Alderman Crouse, Sizemore, Shoemake, Ahlgren, York, Crompton, Kinley and Miller voted "Yea".None voted "Nay".
MAYOR
Mayor and his wife lost their dog today.
COUNCIL
Alderman Sizemore stated that he has received calls regarding lighting at the sports complex and he directed them to the school district. Mayor will reach out to school as well.
Alderman Ahlgren asked who she should tell our residents to call regarding mosquitos.
Alderman Miller stated they have just finished up Pinto Tournament.

Motion made by Alderman Miller, seconded by Alderman Kinley to adjourn. Shoemake, Ahlgren, York, Crompton, Kinley, Miller and Crouse voted "Yea".
