Village of Yates City Board met June 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

Tom Kinzer called the meeting to order at 6:02 P.M.

2. Roll Call

Present: Tom Kinzer, Seth Lekies, Matt Ehens, Ron Smith, and Vonda Brinker

Also Present: Neely Carr, Randy Benson

Absent: Mark Hostetler, Dave Mahr

3. Pledge of Allegiance

All present stood and pledged to the flag

4. Citizens to Address the Board

No citizens

5. Approve Minutes for May 14th Board Meeting, May 21st Special Board Meeting and June 4th Committee Meeting

Smith moved to approve the May 14th, May 21st, and June 4th minutes. Brinker seconded the motion. Roll call unanimous.

6. Approve Monthly Bills, Payroll and Financial Statements

Kinzer moved to approve moving $6,000.00 from Road and Bridge Savings to Road and Bridge Checking. Ehens seconded the motion. Roll call unanimous.

Kinzer moved to approve rolling CD #10662 for 6 months, adding a bill in the amount of $450.00 for the Police Department mobile team training dues and approving all other monthly bills, payroll, and financial statements. Ehens seconded the motion. Roll call unanimous

7. Police Report – Chief Randy Benson

Chief Benson reported it has been a fairly peaceful month. St. Jude Benefit is approaching and he will be on duty for that. A monthly police report was provided to the Board.

8. Update on Concrete Slab for the Picnic Table Next to the Gazebo

Bruce and Brian from Public Works are to remove the existing slab before Nathan starts.

9. Discuss/Approve Intergovernmental Agreement with Elba-Salem Park District

Elba-Salem Park District is awaiting response from their attorney.

10. Update on Water Building Amperage Increase from 200AMP Service to 320AMP Service and Moving Electric Boxes to the Car Port Area

No update

11. Update on graveling the alleyways from MFT funds.

Waiting on IDOT approval

12. Discuss Well Construction Water Flushing Procedures to Test and Possibly Incorporate Next Week

The Fire Department is going to assist with dumping water into the storm drain on Friday at 3:30pm. They plan to add dye to the water.

13. Discuss Compensation for Resident in 200 Block of N Elizabeth Street for Well Construction Employees Using Personal Driveway and Adjusting Daily to their Needs

No action

14. Discuss/Approve Replacing Culvert Under 300 S Marietta Street Due to Backed up Standing Water

There is standing water on the corner of Fulton and Marietta Street as well as the east side of Marietta. The homeowner’s sump pump is running frequently with a claim of no water in their basement. There may be a possibility that the water is backflowing to the house and recirculating out to the ditch due to possible culvert issues. More information is needed on if the culvert needs replaced or not.

15. Discuss/Approve Hiring TEST to Replace Bearing on the South Oxidation Ditch Paddle Wheel at the Treatment Plant in an Amount not to Exceed $4,000.00

Smith moved to approve hiring TEST to replace a bearing on the south oxidation ditch paddle wheel at the treatment plant in the amount not exceed $4,000.00. Brinker seconded the motion. Roll call unanimous.

16. Discuss Putting Rock on Edges of Knox Rd 2300 E

Bruce and Brian patched the edges of Knox Rd 2300 E with leftover CA6 from the alley project. 17. Discuss New Appropriations Ordinance

Kinzer handed out a copy of the appropriation ordinance with adjustments wrote in. There will be a final copy available to vote on next month.

OTHER BUSINESS:

18. Committee Reports

Water – Lekies

A resident on S Burson contacted Seth and informed him they were filling a pool, so there is no suspicion of a leak etc. when meters are read.

Streets/Alleys – Smith

The trimming of trees at the library has exposed another tree across the alley that appears to be dead on the top part. Smtih recommends it being looked at as well.

19. Discussion of Such Other Business as may Properly Come before the Board and Action, if any, to be Taken as Result of Discussions

No other business.

Smith moved to adjourn. Brinker seconded. Roll call unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 6:30pm.
