State Representative Paul Jacobs from Pomona has announced the commencement of his annual summer reading program aimed at students entering first through fourth grades within the 118th State Representative district.

“I am inviting 1st through 4th graders to participate in my 2025 ‘Get in the Game’ Summer Reading Club,” stated Rep. Jacobs. He expressed enthusiasm for this recurring event, encouraging not only children but everyone to engage with literature available in school and public libraries, spanning interests such as sports, nature, science, history, and art.

Participants who read a minimum of eight books by July 3, 2025, will be awarded an official Illinois House of Representatives Certificate of Recognition. Additionally, they will receive two tickets—one for themselves and one for a parent or guardian—to attend a Thrillbillies baseball game at Mountain Dew Park in Marion during a special “Night at the Ballpark” dedicated to celebrating summer readers.

To verify participation after completing eight books, parents or guardians must submit a completed form confirming the reading accomplishment. Books exceeding 150 pages may be counted twice towards this goal.

Completed forms should be submitted to Rep. Jacobs’ Marion District Office located at 600 N. Halfway Road, Suite 103; Marion, IL 62959. For inquiries, participants can contact Rep. Jacobs' office via phone at (618) 559-7018 or email [email protected].

The deadline for submitting forms is Thursday, July 3, 2025. The online submission form is accessible at https://reppauljacobs.com/rep-jacobs-summer-reading-program/.
