Unity Point Community Consolidated School District 140 Board met May 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting of the Unity Point Board of Education was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by the President, Amanda Pangrazio, with the following members present: Morteza Daneshdoost, Elizabeth Mackenbach, Lisa DiBiase, Amanda Pangrazio, , Courtney O’Dell and Brent Pease. Others present were Lori James-Gross and Michelle Brown.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Elizabeth Mackenbach to approve the Agenda as presented. Motion carried 6-0 with all voting yea.

Amanda Pangrazio recognized guests and visitors that were present.

Public Comments: None

Amanda Pangrazio explained the process for the seating of new board members.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion to appoint Elizabeth Mackenbach as the President Pro-Tempore. The President Pro-Tempore presides only through the nomination and election of the President.

Amanda Pangrazio made the motion to appoint Michelle Brown as the Secretary Pro-Tempore.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion seconded by Brent Pease to adjourn sine die at 5:38 p.m. Motion carried 6-0 with all voting yea.

Elizabeth Mackenbach administered the Oath of Office to newly elected board members Brent Pease, Morteza Daneshdoost and Jason Buehner.

Roll Call: Morteza Daneshdoost, Elizabeth Mackenbach, Lisa DiBiase, Courtney O’Dell, Brent Pease and Jason Buehner.

Nominations were opened for President of the Board of Education.

Lisa DiBiase nominated Courtney O’Dell as President of the Board of Education. Brent Pease nominated Morteza Daneshdoost as President of the Board of Education. Following a vote, Morteza Daneshdoost was elected President by acclamation.

Nominations were opened for Vice-President of the Board of Education.

Lisa DiBiase nominated Courtney O’Dell as Vice-President of the Board of Education. Morteza Daneshdoost nominated Elizabeth Mackenbach as Vice-President of the Board of Education. Following a vote, Elizabeth Mackenbach was elected Vice-President by acclamation.

Nominations were opened for Secretary of the Board of Education.

Morteza Daneshdoost nominated Brent Pease as Secretary of the Board of Education. Following a vote, Brent Pease was elected Secretary by acclamation.

Courtney O’Dell made the motion, seconded by Brent Pease to set meeting dates on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Unity Point Library. Motion carried 6-0 with all voting yea.

Elizabeth Mackenbach made the motion, seconded by Brent Pease to adjourn the meeting at 5:55 p.m. Motion carried 6-0 with all voting yea.
