Southern Illinois track concludes season at NCAA West Regional without advancing

The Southern Illinois Track and Field program concluded its 2025 outdoor season at the NCAA West First Round in Bryan-College Station, Texas. The team did not secure qualifications for the NCAA Outdoor Championship.

On Wednesday, Darrione Williams participated in the long jump, finishing 29th with a leap of 7.24 meters. Two close fouls prevented him from advancing to Eugene for the championship. Jumps coach Jacob Brydson remarked, "Heck of a run... Heck of a run." In track events, Andre Jackson II narrowly missed advancing in the 400M dash with a time of 46.31 seconds. Shane Ashton qualified for the quarterfinals in the 400M hurdles with a time of 50.65 seconds, placing 14th.

Thursday saw Leah Thames and Teanna Bell competing in the 400M dash but falling short of qualifying with times of 53.52 and 53.96 seconds respectively. Thames also competed in the 200M dash but missed quarterfinal qualification by .05 seconds with a time of 23.47 seconds.

On Friday, Ashton raced in the quarterfinals for the 400M hurdles, securing an 18th place finish with a time of 51.31 seconds. The men's 4x400M relay team consisting of Shane Ashton, Xavier Preston, Josh Delgado, and Andre Jackson II finished their race with a time of 3:07.58.

Saturday concluded with the women's 4x100M relay team—comprising KeyAnn Wilson, Trinity Cleaver, Leah Thames, and Teanna Bell—finishing their race in 19th place at a time of 44.59 seconds, trailing first-place USC by 2.23 seconds.

The Salukis' season has ended following this event.
