State Representative Dave Severin has issued a reminder about the new deadline for truck registration in Illinois. The office of the Illinois Secretary of State has extended the registration deadline for farm and commercial trucks to April 18, 2025. The extension comes as a result of ongoing staffing issues.

Severin recently collaborated with truck drivers and the Secretary of State's office to address this matter. "Last weekend I worked very closely with truck drivers and the Illinois Secretary of State’s office to understand and address an issue of great importance to our farmers and truck driving industry,” Severin stated. He expressed gratitude for the extended deadline, adding, “I am grateful to the Secretary of State’s office for extending the registration deadline for these vehicles and for urging law enforcement to refrain from writing tickets for expired registrations until the deadline extension has ended.”

This extension aims to protect farmers and truck-driving businesses as they complete their vehicle registrations. Further details about the International Registration Plan (IRP) registration can be accessed online.

Also, the Illinois Secretary of State has issued guidance to motorists and law enforcement on this matter.
