Village of Yates City Board met March 5.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

Hostetler called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

Present: Matt Ehens, Vonda Brinker, Tom Kinzer, Dave Mahr, Ron Smith, Set Lekies, Mark Hostetler Also Present: Joy Mahr, Neely Carr

2. Discuss Resolution of Temporary Closure of Illinois Route 8 on August 16, 2025 for Harvest Home Festival Parade

Randy Benson will complete a Resolution for approval for a temporary road closure of route 8 on August 16, 2025 for the Harvest Home Festival parade.

3. Discuss Purchase of Gravel for Alleys within the Union/Elizabeth and Market/Main Block

Hostetler discussed the areas behind the community center and fire station. Also, the area where the police park. Woodcock Trucking estimated 4-5 loads of CA6 from the Colchester Quarry. The potholes and low spots will be leveled off prior to delivery.

4. Discuss Funding Ordinance for Upcoming Reservoir Project, Awaiting Financial Numbers from Kevan Cooper Scott Brunton will prepare an Ordinance.

5. Discuss Water Building Amperage Increase from 200AMP TO 800AMP

Hostetler received 2 quotes from AMP Companies, Galesburg, and Quick Electrical, Fairview. Discussion was held regarding moving the boxes, running a junction box, and how many extra slots were preferred. An Ameren rep will come and then timing will depend on parts.

6. Discuss Release of Executive Session Minutes from June 1, 2024 – February 28, 2025

A semi-annual review is needed for executive session minutes. This will be done at the next Board Meeting on March 12, 2025.

7. Discuss Tenancy Agreement with Elba-Salem Park District Concerning Cost of Living Adjustment

Kinzer reported the adjustment would raise the amount to $376.00/month from the current $365.00.

8. Discuss Spring Dumpster Possible Date of April 26, 2025 with Salem Township

Township Supervisor, Chris Bewley, will add this to their upcoming agenda. Joy Mahr will check on new dumpster costs with GFL.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

• Streets/Alleys – Smith

Gas station and library alleys need attention.

• Water – Lekies

Complaints from a resident regarding our water fading her clothes. Lekies and Jordan Suits confirmed chlorine level of 3,000-4,000ppm would be needed, our water tests at .5-1ppm. It was later determined the cause was most likely coming from within the house.

• Technology/Public Grounds – Brinker

Library trees were examined by tree trimming company. Estimate reflected miscommunication about cutting them down vs. dead branches being cut. The company will be contacted for a clarification and corrected estimate. The Gazebo has white and green lights for St. Patrick’s Day.

OTHER

• Jordan Suits and Tannock Electrical are looking into the big pump in the lift station not working properly.

• Joy Mahr is in contact with Confidential Security Corp document destruction for $0.15/pound. Comparison to Illinois Valley is being had.
