Southern Illinois Women’s Golf prepares for Coach Mo Classic in Florida

Southern Illinois Women's Golf team is heading back to Florida to participate in the Coach Mo Classic, which will be held in St. John's, Fla. The competition spans two days, with participating teams scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.

The event will feature teams including Belmont, Charleston, Charlotte, Daytona State, Florida Gulf Coast, FIU, host Furman, Lipscomb, Minnesota, North Florida, Purdue, St. Thomas, Toledo, UTSA, and Western Kentucky. The matches are to take place at the St. John's Golf & Country Club, which has a par of 72.

In their previous outing, the Salukis secured 12th place at the Notre Dame Clover Cup, showcasing their best performance in the second round with a score of 297 (+17). This time, the team will be led by Ella Overstreet, Pihla Pennanen, Allie Santos, Kayla Sayyalinh, and Calli Smith. Notably, Kayla Sayyalinh led the Salukis at the Clover Cup, finishing 27th and recording scores of 70 and 71 in the subsequent rounds.

The weather forecast for Monday anticipates a high of 85 degrees with partly cloudy skies and winds ranging from 10 to 15 miles per hour. On Tuesday, the conditions expect to be slightly cooler, with a high of 82 degrees and winds between five and 10 miles per hour, complemented by partly cloudy skies.
