Spring break has not slowed down the athletics activities at Southern Illinois University, as various teams continue their seasons. The men's basketball team concluded its season with a record of 14-19 after participating in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Kennard Davis Jr. was recognized for his performance by being named to the MVC Most Improved Team and the All-MVC Second Team, while Ali Dibba earned a spot on the All-MVC Third Team.
The women's basketball team ended their regular season with losses to Bradley and Illinois State, concluding with a 4-25 record. They now head into the Credit Union 1 MVC Tournament for a rematch against Illinois State.
In track and field, Andre Jackson II secured a gold medal in the 400-meter dash at the MVC Indoor Championship. Several other athletes also brought home silver and bronze medals from the event.
The softball team finished their non-conference schedule with a strong showing at the Saluki Invitational, winning three out of four games. Conference play begins soon with matches against Illinois State.
Men's golf participated in the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Arizona, finishing tied for 13th place. Baseball extended its winning streak to ten games following a sweep of Bellarmine over the weekend.
Swim and dive sent Aj Terry and Alex Santiago to compete in Ohio State's Last Chance Meet, where Santiago excelled in the 100-yard freestyle. Next up is participation in NCAA Diving Zones.
Women's golf started their week at Huntsville.org Intercollegiate hosted by Samford and will continue competing at Notre Dame's Clover Cup through March 12.
