State Senator Terri Bryant from Murphysboro has expressed her views following the outcome of a public vote concerning the Illinois state flag. The results revealed strong support for maintaining the current design.
"As a member of the Illinois State Flag Commission, I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans who took part in this process and made their voices heard," said Senator Bryant. She emphasized the clear preference shown by voters, stating, "The current flag received more votes than the next five designs combined."
Senator Bryant called on lawmakers to respect this result: "I strongly believe that lawmakers should honor this decisive outcome and respect the will of the people by keeping our flag as it is."
