Southern Illinois University's women's golf team is set to participate in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, continuing their spring season. The event will be held in Huntsville, Alabama, starting Monday and spanning two days. Participants will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday at Hampton Cove, a par-72 course measuring 6,039 yards.
In their previous outing at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, the Salukis secured an eleventh-place finish. Key players Kayla Sayyalinh and Pihla Pennanen led the team by tying for 28th and 32nd place respectively. Notably, Pennanen achieved a team-low round of 72 during the second round.
Joining Sayyalinh and Pennanen in this tournament are Ella Overstreet, Allie Santos, and Calli Smith, forming a five-player squad representing Southern Illinois University.
Weather forecasts for Monday predict a high of 64 degrees with partly cloudy skies and winds reaching up to 10 miles per hour. On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise to 73 degrees with similar cloud coverage but stronger winds ranging from 20 to 30 mph.
