Southern Illinois University's women's swim and dive team has reclaimed the top position in the Women's Missouri Valley Conference Championships after Friday's events. The competition, held in Waukee, Iowa, saw several record-breaking performances from the Salukis.

During the preliminaries, Celia Pulido set a new program, MVC, and championship record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.49 seconds. She was joined by Bea Padron in qualifying for the A-finals. Masha Zhukova and Jules Atkinson made it to the B-finals.

In the 400-yard individual medley (IM), Brooklyn Anderson secured a spot in the A-finals with her first-place finish. Fernanda Sánchez also advanced to the A-finals while Sam Vega headed to the B-finals after finishing 11th.

Susanna Hernandez was Southern Illinois' sole qualifier for the A-finals in the 200-yard freestyle. Meanwhile, Padron finished 12th to earn a place in the B-finals.

Olivia Herron led prelims in the 100-yard breaststroke with Ali Robertson following closely as runner-up; both qualified for A-finals along with Madalyn Booker. Ava Rines clinched a spot in B-finals.

The final preliminary event was the 100-yard backstroke where Pulido and Liseska Gallegos Gutierrez took top spots heading into A-finals while Andrea Santos Arambula secured her place among B-finalists.

In Friday's finals, Pulido won gold again resetting records with another swim of 52.49 seconds during her victorious performance at this stage too - earning herself yet another title within this discipline! Padron claimed bronze here too!
