Southern Illinois faces Northern Iowa at home after three road games

The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team will host the University of Northern Iowa on Friday, marking their return home after three consecutive road games. The game is set for 6 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+, with commentary by Dominic Hoscher and Saluki Hall of Famer Jamaal Tatum. Radio coverage will be provided by Larry Larson on NewsRadio WJPF 107.9 FM.

A special promotion for students includes a free tuition raffle, where the winner will have a chance to make a half-court shot during halftime to win free tuition. Additionally, fans can enjoy the courtside courtyard without an entry fee.

Southern Illinois has faced challenges this season with a 3-12 overall record and 1-5 in conference play, following an 85-70 loss at Evansville. Notably, Gift Uchenna was recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for her performance.

The Salukis are averaging 59.3 points per game while allowing 76.5 since conference play began. They currently rank sixth in overall rebounding within the Missouri Valley Conference and lead in offensive rebounding.

Gift Uchenna leads in several statistical categories, including rebounding and blocks-per-game. Kayla Cooper contributed significantly in their last game with a career-high eight assists. Se'Quoia Allmond missed her fifth game of the season recently but had been a strong performer earlier.

Northern Iowa enters with a record of 9-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play but is on a two-game losing streak. The Panthers are known for their scoring offense, averaging 75.9 points per game.

Historically, Southern Illinois holds a record of 35-49 against Northern Iowa, with UNI winning the last three matchups between the teams.
