Southern Illinois University's basketball player, Kennard Davis Jr., has been recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the League office on Monday afternoon. This marks the second time this season that a member of the Salukis has received this accolade.
Davis, who hails from St. Louis, delivered an impressive performance over the past week, averaging 21 points and nine rebounds per game. His contributions were pivotal in securing victories against Missouri State and Northern Iowa. Over these two games, Davis maintained a shooting accuracy of 57.1 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from three-point range, and 75 percent from free throws.
In particular, Davis achieved a career-high score of 24 points during the win over Northern Iowa, along with securing his third double-double of the season with ten rebounds in that game. Additionally, he contributed 18 points and eight rebounds in their road victory at Missouri State.
The Southern Illinois team is set to face Murray State at Banterra Center on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase through various channels including the SIU ticket office and online platforms.
