State Representative Dave Severin, a Republican from Benton, has commenced his second term as the 116th District State Representative. The inauguration took place on January 8 during the ceremonies for the 104th General Assembly in Springfield, Illinois.
"Taking the oath of office is an honor, and serving as State Representative is a full-time job that I take very seriously," Severin expressed. He acknowledged the support of his wife Penny and family and emphasized his commitment to representing southern Illinois constituents. "We have a lot of work to do to turn this state around, and I look forward to the challenges ahead."
Severin's political journey began in January 2017 when he was elected as the 117th District State Representative after defeating a long-serving Democrat incumbent. Following redistricting in 2022, he now serves Edwards, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Marion, Wabash, Washington, Wayne, and White Counties.
"My district is home to some of the best farm ground, most innovative and impactful businesses," Severin stated.
