City of Murphysboro City Council met Dec. 4.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Stephens called the meeting to order at 4:37 p.m., led the council in prayer and then led the council in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Mayor Stephens then directed City Clerk Hunziker to call the roll. The roll was called with the following
Present: Barb Hughes, Jance Curry-Witzman, Rick Runge, Mike Austin, W.J. Pittman, John Erbes, Gary McComb, Don Gladden
Absent: Angela Jackson, Scott Strack
Review and Consideration if the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2025: Mayor Stephens stated changes to the proposed budget on page three are change 01-00-311 to $23,840, 01-00-320 to $70,000 and 01-00-320.1 to $70,000. Ms. Ripley stated these reflect the Tax Levy document. Mayor Stephens stated page eleven
Liquor Commissioner Salary should be $2200. Mr. Evans stated this is with everyone’s wish list. Seized assets deficit – purchasing a truck. Tourism – balanced budget. Health insurance renewals – no figures yet, used last year’s. Solar - meeting with them Monday. ARPA – will spend remaining $270,000. Will have a deficit budget due to ARPA funds. Aldermen were then provided an opportunity to present their questions and have them answered. Alderman Runge asked on page nine 01-06-501.3 drop to $89,700? Yes. Mayor Stephens asked if can meet December 19, 5:30 Public Hearing and 6:00 for council meeting? Mayor Stephens stated does not think Liberty Theater board knows there are funds they can ask for, would like to budget $3000.
Motion: To approve the budget as presented with the amendments.
Motion by Alderman Gladden Second by Alderman Hughes
Mayor Stephens called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
