Village of Yates City Committee Board met Dec. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

Present: Mark Hostetler, Matt Ehens, Vonda Brinker, Tom Kinzer, Ron Smith

Also Present: Neely Carr, Joy Mahr, Chris Bewley

2. Citizens Address the Board

Chris Bewley addressed the Board on behalf of the Harvest Home Committee in regards to a donation for new stoves they are wanting to purchase. The new stoves are 36” residential grade with 6 burner tops. They are deeper and wider than the current stoves which makes them much safer with the size pots the Committee uses during their dinners. Harvest Home relies on profits from monthly dinners and donations to run the Festival they host every year, which is why the expense is beyond their budget. The Board discussed appropriations/budget and will vote at the Board Meeting on 12-11-2024 for a $300 donation.

3. Discuss Holiday Bonuses

Hostetler discussed that all Village employees typically receive a Holiday Bonus. The amount of $100.00 was given the prior year. Discussion was had regarding keeping that amount.

4. Discuss New Water Rate Ordinance to Reflect New Garbage Rates

Joy Mahr and Kinzer explained with the new GFL Contract reflecting new garbage rates and dumpster cost increase that we will need to increase our Ordinance to cover the increase. $0.30 yearly increase will cover all new rates. 2025 New Rates will be $15.83 in-town, $22.83 out-of-town.

5. Discuss Truth-In-Taxation Hearing

Hearing will be held at the Board Meeting on 12-11-2024.

6. Discuss Purchasing a Grapple Bucket for Skid Steer

Discussion was had about purchasing a grapple bucket for the Skid Steer for Public Works. Consideration of a 60” size is estimated at $1,400.00 + shipping.

7. Discuss Flushing Sections of Sewer Lines on a Scheduled Basis

Hostetler discussed having a scheduled flushing of the sewer lines on North Dixon, East Ames, and possibly other areas around the Village.

8. Discuss Marco Contract

Joy Mahr reported the new treasurer machine at her residence was to increase our current contract by $0.61/mo but is now being informed, by a miscalculation, that there is a $50.00/mo increase. Also, there is a separate contract instead of it being added to the current one. Joy informed the rep to return the machine and bring back the old one. She is waiting for an update as he said he would see what he can do.

9. Discuss Santa’s Breakfast Donation

Hostetler discussed the upcoming Breakfast with Santa and the Fire Department had asked for a donation. The Board has previously donated and plans to donate again in the amount of $300.00.

10. OTHER BUSINESS

Hostetler informed the Board that Jim Ralston will no longer be plowing the sidewalks along Main Street in front of businesses. The Board discussed having an Ordinance that states businesses are responsible for cleaning of the sidewalks/entryways/etc.
