Village of De Soto Board of Trustees met Dec. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Eric Schuler called the first regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 PM.  Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present:  Brian Gleason             Fern Martin

               Eric Schuler                Jennifer Morgan

               Cristy Desormeaux

Absent:   Tony Rushing              Rachel Alstat

Motion made by Fern Martin, seconded by Brian Gleason, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them.  Motion carried.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to approve the November Expense report.  Motion carried. 

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Martin, to pay the list of bills.  Upon roll call vote:  Brian Gleason – Yes; Fern Martin – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes.  Motion Carried.  

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Fern Martin, to approve the 2025 Holiday and Regular Meeting Schedules. Motion carried.

The Board discussed the need to purchase one or two Christmas ornaments per year to replace old ones.  They also discussed replacing the white vinyl fence along the city parking lot with an iron fence.  They will look into the cost of replacing the vinyl fence.  These expenses will be budgeted  in fiscal year 2025-2026.

Interviews with the applicants for the meter reader was scheduled for December 16 at 6:00 PM.

Director of Public Works Danny Vancil is getting estimates for switching to LED lights at the park.

Motion made by Christy Desormeaux, seconded by Fern Martin, to pass Ordinance 2024-4 Amendment to Chapter 33 Street Regulations, Article IV Culverts.  Upon roll call vote:  Brian Gleason – Yes; Fern Martin – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes.  Motion Carried.  Ordinance incorporated by reference.

The next board meeting will be held December 16, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the village hall.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to adjourn the meeting at 7:37 P.M.  Motion carried.
