Southern Illinois hosts North Dakota State in Charles Helleny Tip-Off Classic

Southern Illinois University's basketball team is set to host North Dakota State at the Banterra Center for the Charles Helleny Tip-Off Classic. The event, scheduled for Monday night at 7 p.m. CT, marks the first Division I men's basketball home game of the season. This annual classic honors a legacy gift from Charles Helleny.

Fans can follow the game via various platforms. Mike Trude and Jamaal Tatum will provide commentary on ESPN Plus, while Luke Martin and Rodney Watson will cover the radio broadcast on 101.5 CIL-FM and other Saluki networks.

Southern Illinois' team is led by Scott Nagy, a coach with three decades of experience. Under his leadership, SIU has returned players Kennard Davis Jr., Jarrett Hensley, and Sheridan Sharp while adding 11 new members to their roster.

Kennard Davis Jr., recognized with Third Team Preseason All-MVC honors alongside Ali Dibba, stands out with an average of 3.67 steals per game. He also ranks sixth nationally in this category. Elijah Elliott leads the team's scoring efforts with an average of 19.3 points per game.

In their last match against Oklahoma State, Southern Illinois lost narrowly despite a strong performance by Elliott and Davis Jr., who scored 21 and 16 points respectively.

North Dakota State enters the upcoming game with a record of two wins and two losses this season. Key players include Jacari White, Jackson Moni, and Tajavis Miller. Historically, Southern Illinois has dominated their series against North Dakota State with a lead of 6-1.
