Southern Illinois University's men's basketball team is set to host North Park in a scrimmage at the Banterra Center on Tuesday. The event, scheduled for 6 p.m., is open to the public with no ticket required and free seating available. Fans are advised that there will be no reserved parking, and those arriving from Lot 89 should enter through the Boydston Center entrance.
Ahead of the game, children can participate in Halloween Trick or Treat activities organized by SIU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and two children with standout costumes will win courtside seats, courtesy of Anderson's Furniture.
The Salukis will be led by Scott Nagy, their new head coach who brings three decades of experience. Nagy has a record of 577 wins and ranks 17th among active Division I coaches. He has previously coached South Dakota State and Wright State, achieving 14 consecutive winning seasons.
Returning players include Kennard Davis Jr., Jarrett Hensley, and Sheridan Sharp. Davis Jr., recognized for his defensive skills last season, returns after participating in 32 games as a freshman. New additions to the team are transfers Elijah Elliott, Ali Dibba, and Davion Sykes.
SIU was predicted to finish seventh in the MVC Preseason Poll. The scrimmage will not be televised but can be followed via radio on the Saluki Radio Network or through live stats on SIUSalukis.com.
The Banterra Center will celebrate its 60th anniversary on November 8th with special promotions for fans attending the opening night game. Season tickets and mini plans are available for purchase with various pricing options.
