Southern Illinois basketball signs two freshmen for class of 2025

Southern Illinois University's basketball team has secured two new recruits for the 2025 season. Head coach Scott Nagy confirmed the signings of Luke Walsh and Daniel Pauliukonis, both rated as 3-star prospects, during National Signing Day.

Luke Walsh, a 6-foot-2 guard from St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis, is recognized for his outstanding performance in his junior year. He received the MCC Player of the Year award and was named to the First Team St. Louis Post Dispatch All-Metro. Walsh achieved a significant milestone by scoring over 1,000 points and setting school records for most points in a game (48) and most 3-pointers in a season (102). He is also a three-time MBCA All-District honoree and has twice been named MBCA All-State.

Daniel Pauliukonis, standing at 6-foot-9, is considered one of the top prospects in Illinois according to the City/Suburban Hoops Report. During his junior year at Benet Academy, he contributed to a successful season with a league record of 14-2 and an overall record of 27-7.
